**NEW** Wedding Cake Kit 'Provence' - (Includes the cake)
Complete cake kit in a box (including the cake) for you to assemble and decorate yourself.
You'll receive all the trimmings, iced cakes and everything you need to recreate this design, including the dowels and sticky stuff to put it all together. Just give us as much info as you can about the dates you need this for, that's helpful.
These new designs include 2 dummy tiers which allows us to make them the tall, trendy shape! We can't post tall, real cake, it's too risky, but we can post standard depth ones, and tall dummy ones. Dummy tiers are included in many wedding cakes you see already in magazines etc. We'll also sharpen all the edges for that Uber-trendy look for 2025+.
To keep things simple we'll offer 4 tiers (2 dummy, 2 cake) and 5 tiers (2 dummy, 3 cake).
Design Includes:
4" x 6" iced dummy
6" x 6" iced dummy
8" x 3" iced sponge cake
10" x 3" iced sponge cake serves approx 60-80.
12" x 3" iced sponge cake to the bottom, serves up to 120.
These estimates depend on how generous your portions are of course but are based on a traditional inch square slice.
All vanilla sponge with buttercream and jam. Again, we're trying to keep things simple but if you REALLY want to make flavour changes feel free to enquire but go ahead and order, tell us in the notes that you'd like the 8" to be chocolate sponge (for example) and someone will call you for the extra payment.
We offer vanilla sponge (everyone's fave!), chocolate sponge (+£10), lemon cream (which is vanilla cake with lemon filling +£10)) and rich fruit cake (+£25- £35). Fruit cake also needs to be on the bottom so that means the biggest one. This is normally not ideal so we recommend ordering the cake as it is then perhaps ordering a separate fruit cake i.e 6" or 8" to keep in the kitchen for cutting. Looks the same but doesn't need to be part of the design. Here's the link to our plain iced cakes:...

Note: Due to availability we may need to replace the decorations now and again but will select something as close to your choice as possible. We have chosen items that should be readily available but sometimes flowers, for example, can vary slightly. You can also tell us in the notes if you'd like lilac or cream flowers instead, or purple ribbon for example. We will try our best to accommodate your requests but remember keeping it simple keeps it simple for everyone!
Please take a couple minutes to read ALL the info below, FAQ's are at the bottom.
We'll send you everything you need to recreate this design (even the iced cakes). We will bake the cake, fill it, ice it, paint it, quilt it and generally do all we can before posting it. All you have to do is put it all together at your end as the tiers will be posted separately. We'll send everything you need, dowels, ribbons, flowers, toys, whatever is on your chosen design. We've simplified it and we've done the thinking for you too EASY! . When we get a chance we are adding new ideas. These designs generally make the FREE SHIPPING threshold too, yay! Remember and tell us any changes you need (like 'Happy Birthday' instead of Engaged) and don't forget to give us the dates you need.

Give us as much notice as possible so we can outsmart the couriers. The earlier, the better! We have a 2 week standard rule that means if you order within 2 weeks of your required date then we can probably still do it, but we cannot guarantee nor offer refunds for mishaps, late arrival or damages. These are very rare but not unknown. They are essentially 'cakes in the post' so if you'd like to take your chances, we're happy to help.
The cake kits are generally made up of the following:
Vanilla sponge cakes filled with buttercream (butter/icing sugar) and strawberry jam. Then covered in sugar paste icing (the kind you roll out). Some design may have sprinkles added or edible decorations so please if you have any allergen concerns, find more info on our ingredients/allergens page here.
FAQ's
Q: Can you post to Lincolnshire? Manchester? London?
A: Sure we can, we ship all around mainland UK and Northern Ireland. Shipping is free for orders over £85. Highlands & Islands may cost a little more and may take 2 days instead of one.
Q: How long does it take or when will you post it?
A: Here's what we do....if you tell us your event is on Saturday the (whatever) we'll make the cake the week before ready to post probably Monday with next day courier. This way should should have it nice and early and allows for any courier delays. We prefer not to promise specific dates because if the courier is a little late, your disappointed. We'd much rather you got your cake early than late, and we're sure you'll agree!
Q: My event is 8 months away, when should I order?
A: It's best you order as soon as poss to get in the diary. We will bake and post nearer the time of course. Another thing is the price may be a little more in a few months time - just saying :-)
Q: How long does it last?
A: Don't worry our cake is good for weeks, we've tested it. It needs to sit for a few days to set firm (on the outside). This gives it a better chance in the post. The sugar paste coating is also helping to preserve the sponge inside. It will stay fluffy for weeks after that but we'd rather you didn't try that! Enjoy as soon as you can.
Q: How many does it serve?
A: These are estimates, of course, and based on 1 or 2" slices. It depends how generous you are and how hungry your guests are....
6" - 10 servings
8" - 20 servings
10" - 35 servings
12" - 50 servings
Q: Can I change/mix the flavours?
A: You can. The prices listed are for vanilla sponge with buttercream and jam filling - by far everyone's fave!. You should order this then in the notes at checkout what you want to change. Just to keep it simple, we offer vanilla, chocolate with chocolate filling, lemon cream (vanilla with lemon filling) and fruit cake. When your order is received someone will call you for the extra payment. It's generally £10 more for choc and lemon. Fruit cake is much more and depends on the size. Feel free to compare the difference between fruit cake and vanilla cake here on the website. Also, fruit cake needs to go on the bottom as it's very heavy, even the small ones, so if you only need a little bit, then you can order a plain iced fruit cake here and just cut it in the kitchen, that's common practise. If there's a lot you want to change then you don't need a kit at all. You should order separate cakes from the plain iced cakes page here and design as you wish. You can add colours here too. Kits are simple, classic designs to save you thinking about it.
Q: Where should I store it?
A: We recommend you take the cakes out of the boxes right away, remove the packaging and check them over. You can put them back in the boxes (without the packaging, to protect them until you're ready to assemble. Keep in a normal room temperature room. A cool room is better for preservation but definitely NOT a fridge or garage for example. Cold air can cause sweating and stickiness, especially in the summer. If this should happen anyway, just allow it to dry out before decorating, it will fix. Hot air can cause melting of course and shortens the shelf life, as you can imagine, so take care not to put it on top of an appliance that has warm vents.....fridge, drying cupboard, microwave etc. Just a cool room like a spare bedroom is perfectly good, maybe with the window open but not necessarily.
Q: How do i assemble?
A: Start with the bottom cake, the biggest one. Use a little royal icing to stick it to the iced cake drum/board. Insert a dowel and mark the top of the cake with your thumb nail, remove the dowel and cut where you've marked. Cut at least 4 pieces the same and insert into the cake ensuring they are within the perimeter size of the next cake so a) you don't see them and b) their job is to support the next cake. Apply a few blobs of the royal icing and put the next cake on top to stick. Repeat with the dowels and add the next cake until all the tiers are stacked - easy! Use tiny amounts of royal icing to stick ribbons and trims where you see fit. Big blobs will just look like big blobs!
We recommend NOT sticking the top cake if you are still to deliver it to the venue. Imagine that in a car! 2 tiers will be fine but 3 is a bit dodgy. NEVER transport a cake on a car seat, ALWAYS on the car floor or the boot, or the back of a nice flat van floor. Even on a person's knees if you must but try keep the cake flat and not angled. Then imagine you are driving with a pot of soup in there!
You can stack the cake to add the dowels, trims etc so you can see it finished. We like to leave this overnight just to check nothing has moved in the morning (it wont though). Then lift off the top tier for the journey. stick it back on when you get there. This way you can be confident it'll be great and you can enjoy your day!
Q: Do you do gluten free/nut free cakes?
A: Sorry we don't. We make so many different things here, we'd rather not take the risk, we'll leave that to allergen specialists. We don't add nuts to our cakes either but the companies who make the icing also make marzipan generally so nuts are in the environment and there 'may be traces' somewhere.
Q: Do you do vegan cakes?
A: Sorry we don't, YET. We may come back to this because we do like to get with the program. We did try it years ago but the recipes and fillings were pretty unstable so they just weren't safe enough to post. We'll try again later when we get a chance to experiment!
